Day five

Ants black, sand dark and hard,
Birds twitter, green leaves sigh,
Toilet stink, water dips and dives on the white showld river.

We are camped at a White Water Rafting Lodge out side Millinocket. Yesterday we rested as we watched boys and girls great up for the rafts that will carry them through the Penobscot River that flows heavy along the valley off  Katahdin .We heard there was a shortcut over the valley floor to Moosehead Lake,we are going to go there.
The Golden Road, tow hours of dust, gravel, pot holes the size of frying pans, no signage, and river beads beaming white with white water! We drive we drive we drive, we swerve, we miss the truck going 100 as most kids love to do on dirt roads. We stop we guess, we succeed, we emerge two hours later into the Village of Greenville and Moosehead Lake.We (Michael) drove the GOLDEN ROAD, a fĂȘte in itself.
